Enough about AI already

An AI post about being tired of AI posts

I’m not a huge fan of LinkedIn, but it’s a necessary evil if you want to brand yourself and market your stuff. Half the feed was about AI, and that was a real downer.

And I fall for it. A prompt tutorial promised to boost my productivity as a marketer, but I ended up with a longer to-do list instead. What bums me out is that some of the tools under the hype have made my work easier, which makes all the buzz around them harder to take.

Yes, I work in tech

I work in tech myself, so this isn’t sour grapes. I see the hype from the inside, and I know how much of it is written to be posted rather than to be true. Plenty of it is people performing a certainty they don’t have.

What I would rather see

I’d rather people showed me what their tool does than told me what it’ll do one day. If you’ve built something that helps, show me the plain before and after. And if you’re worn out by all of this, you have my permission to say so. You don’t need an opinion on every model release. Use the handful of tools that earn their place, and ignore the rest. The people doing the most interesting things with these tools are the ones posting about it the least.

That’s my rant for the week. Now I’m going back to the cloud bills.
